About Examination

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam offered by 22 National Law Universities around the country for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes.

 

New Changes Introduced

Important Dates (Dates may change due to COVID-19)

All the NLUs take admission via CLAT 2020. Every year, almost 50,000 candidates appear for CLAT examination, to get admission in 2000+ seats. Candidates can check the important date for CLAT 2020 examination from the table below.

Admit Card

The admit card for CLAT 2020 exam will be releasing in the month of August 2020. The Exam will be conducted on August 22, 2020.

 

Application Fees

Admission Process

This year candidates need to appear for the online entrance exam conducted by NUALS Kochi in order to get admission in 22 participating NLU.

The CLAT 2020 process will be held in the following stages:

 

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can see the details mentioned below regarding the eligibility criteria for CLAT examination.

UG Programme

  1. 45% marks – for candidates belonging to General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI candidates.
  2. 40% marks – for candidates belonging to SC / ST candidates.

PG Programme

 

Syllabus

There is no defined syllabus for CLAT 2020. However, Consortium has defined subjects from which the questions in the exams are asked which are as follows:

UG Syllabus Explanation

It is true that there is no syllabus for CLAT. However, on a very broad scale one can say that focused question will be asked. On the basis of these questions, the candidate’s skills on understanding the passages and its central theme will be accessed.
