The Reserve Bank of India was established in April 1st 1935 in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The central office of the RBI was initially established in Calcutta but later moved permanently to Mumbai in 1937. The central office is which where governor sits and where policies are formulated. Since originally it was privately owned but after nationalization in 1949, the RBI is fully owned by the Government of India.

It is India’s central banking institution, which controls the monetary policy of Indian currency.

  • Your job will be to make sure that the circulation of coins & currencies in the system works smoothly and properly.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality:

All candidates must be

  1. A citizen of India
  2. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. Tibetan Refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
  4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India.
  • Age limit:

Minimum: 21 years

Maximum: 30 years

*For candidates with M.Phil. Degree, the upper age limit is 32 years and for candidates holding Ph.D. Degree, it is 34 years.

A minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) or an equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree as well as in 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) and 10th Standard examinations.

Grade B (DR)-DEPR

A Master's Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

Grade B (DR)-DSIM

A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years; OR

Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years and one-year postgraduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an institute of repute; OR

M. Stat. The degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years OR

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years

*Fee/Intimation charges waiver is only for those employees of RBI (Staff Candidates) who satisfy the eligibility criteria separately stipulated by the Bank vide its circular CO. HRMD. No. G-75/ 5599/ 05.01.01/ 2013-2014 dated December 20, 2013.

Their status as staff candidate will be verified at the time of interview. In case they are not eligible to be treated as staff candidates (in terms of above referred HRMD circular), they are advised to indicate themselves as non-staff candidates and pay fees/ intimation charges as applicable to non-staff candidates.

Interview process:

Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview, based on aggregate marks obtained in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III of Mains exam. Interview Process will carry 50 marks.
