Conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), CDS examination is conducted twice every year. Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam is one of the most valuable exams conducted by UPSC as it has the capability to select the most preferable candidates for Indian Naval Academy, Officers' Training Academy, Indian Military Academy as well as Air Force Academy.

DON'T FORGET TO CHECK THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. NATIONALITY:-

The eligibility criteria for CDS exam is however a bit more flexible as it allows candidates who might be

  • a citizen of INDIA, or
  • a subject to BHUTAN, or
  • a subject to Nepal.

Note: - However candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal, the Certificate is eligibility is not mandatory for them.

 

  1. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:- 
  • For INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY as well as Officers' Training Academy:  A degree from a recognized University or equivalent is a necessity for a candidate to successfully qualify the eligibility criteria.
  • For INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY:  This post of the CDS exam, however demands a recognized Engineering degree so that the candidate can apply for this post.
  • For AIR FORCE ACADEMY: This is one of the most imperative post and therefore the candidates must possess a recognized degree with Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level. However a Bachelor of Engineering might also work for appearing in the examination.

 

  1. AGE LIMIT and MARTIAL STATUS:-
    1. for Indian Military Academy:-
  • Candidates must be within the age of 19 - 24 years.
  • Marital Status – Unmarried
  1.        b. for INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY:-
  • This field of the examination requires the age limit between  19- 23 years.
  • Marital Status however must be Unmarried.
  1. for AIR FORCE ACADEMY:-
  • The age boundaries for the Air Force Academy are between    19 - 22 years.
  • Applicants for this Academy must be Unmarried till 25 years.
  1. for Officer Training Academy:-
  • The age limit must be between 19 - 25 years.
  • Marital Status must be Unmarried.
  1. for Officer Training Academy(SSC Women Non-technical courses)
  • The age limitations for this Academy are 19 - 25 years.
  • The Martial Status of the applicants must be Unmarried.
  • However if the applicant is widowed or divorced, the matter must be issueless.

 

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

  • Each and every process of the admission is conducted online. The applicants can thus visit to the official website www.upsconline.nic.in to clear every confusion regarding the process.
  • Any certificate that symbolizes claims regarding age, educational data or SC/ST/OBC of the candidates must not be submitted with their applications.
  • It must be noted that the admission certificate/admit card will never be sent via post. Therefore, the Admission Certificate/Admit Card must be downloaded by the candidates through the official website.

 

FEE DETAILS

  • In order to complete the admission process the candidates must submit a total amount of Rs.200 either through net banking or by deposition of cash in any branch of State Bank of India.
  • Candidates who are Female or belong to the SC / ST cast are free from any such payment.

SYLLABUS FOR THE CDS EXAMINATION

  • ENGLISH (CODE 1)
  • GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (CODE 2)
  • ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS (CODE 3) - Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration, Statistics, Intelligence and Personality test.

 

RESULT

  • RESULT of the CDS EXAMINATION will be announced in two stages, Written Exam Result and the SSB/Interview Result.
  • First of all the result of the Written Exam be brought to notice by the commission.
  • And then those who qualify the first stage successfully will be summoned for the SSB or PERSONALITY TEST.
